MS Wire Grades

                                                  Grades of  MS Wire

 *  What is Grades in MS Wire?

The grade in steel is determined by its chemical composition, carbon content & mechanical properties.

It is designated by both letters & numbers or a combination of both.
It is also used to differentiate steel based on its unique properties.

Four grades of Mild steel:-
  • Low Carbon
  • Medium carbon
  • High Carbon
  • Very high carbon

Grades of MS wire:-

  *1008/1010
  *1018
  *1022
  *10B21

1008/1010:-

1008 is a standard grade carbon steel of 0.1% to 0.10% of carbon content. It has good weldability & brazing ability. Its surface finishing is very good.

1010 require minimum carbon of 0.08% and a maximum of 0.13%.

1018:-

1018 grade contains carbon content of 0.16 % - 0.17%. It has good ductility and toughness. Also, it has good Strength Quality. It is sued for Self Tapping Screws for its good strength.

1022:-

1022 Grade is intermediate carbon steel. It has good ductility, tensile strength and good hardness. It is best for Drywall & self-drilling screw manufacturing for its High Strength and Sharp points.

10B21:-

10B21 is Boron Steel used for Automotive Fasteners. It is used as High Strength Structural Steel.
